    • triple integral,volume of solids,change of variables,beta and gamma functions and relatioship between them.

    • vector calculus:differential of vectors,scalar and vector point functions gradient of a scalar,field and directional derivative,
    • divergence and curl of a vector field and their physical interpretations,del applied twice to point functions,
    • integration of vectors,line integral,surface integral,volume integral,green’s,stoke’s and guass divergence theorms  and their simple applications.

    • Review of energy and power expressions ,MECHANICAL VIBRATIONS AND STRUCTURAL DYNAMIC.

    Unit-2:

    • VIBRATION UNDER HARMONIC FORCING CONDITIONS,Newton’s second law and Euler’s equation,
    • Conservation of energy (first law of thermodynamics) ,Lagrange’s equations of class II (holonomic form),
    • Multiple degree-of-freedom (MDOF) systems ,Note that the symmetry in the mass, damping, and stiffness matrices has disappeared and the coordinates have become dynamically coupled as well as statically coupled.

    Unit-3:

    • VIBRATION UNDER GENERAL FORCING CONDITIONS,Continuous systems of second and fourth-order,
    • These expressions can be used in conjunction with Hamilton’s principle to derive the EOMs,
    • however, this technique will not be presented here because it requires a clear working knowledge of variational calculus, which is beyond the scope of this course.
